When we heard that the the New York City Housing Authority’s Chief Exterminator estimates that 70% of bed bug reports are “actual” infestations, that 70% resonated.
Wrapping up our first week
Events completely overtook our plans this week, but we are ready to get back to work.
In the next few days we’ll offer some specific suggestions to you — give you something to do, if you’re up for it — so keep an eye on that space above for a “Take Action” page. It will be a modest place to start, relative to how far behind other cities we are, but better late than never, no?
We heard from Howard!
That’s Mr. Howard Marder, public information officer for the New York City Housing Authority.
What I can tell you is that the revised year-end number for 2007 of all bed bug complaints was 1,720 and that our Chief Exterminator says that in his experience about 70% of cases reported there is actual infestation.

Waiting for Howard
Today we wait for New York City Housing Authority spokesman Howard Marder to confirm the numbers cited for public housing infestations in David Segal’s Washington Post piece.
